What are the different types of wrinkles
Dynamic Wrinkles
Dynamic wrinkles form due to repeated muscle contractions. Common examples include crow's feet (around the eyes) and frown lines (between the eyebrows). They appear as a result of expressive facial movements over time. We often see dynamic wrinkles when squinting in the sun, staring at computer screens or making repetitive facial expressions. Over time, you’ll notice tiny persistent creases when not contracting your muscles. These are known as static lines, which can form due to repetitive movements.
Static Wrinkles
Unlike dynamic wrinkles, static wrinkles are visible even when your face is at rest. These wrinkles develop due to the loss of collagen and elastin in the skin, which diminishes its elasticity and firmness. They are often found on the forehead, eyes and neck, which is no surprise, as these are areas involved in repetitive expression.
Surface Wrinkles
These fine lines are often superficial and result from sun damage, dehydration, or environmental factors. Surface wrinkles can give the skin a rough texture and make it appear aged. Muscle-relaxing treatments can drastically improve these wrinkles over time, although they may require other treatments to stimulate your body’s natural production of collagen & elastin.
Treatment options for surface wrinkles include; Bio Remodelling, Skin Boosters, TCA peels, Clearlift & Anti-wrinkle medication
Deep Wrinkles & Creases
Deep wrinkles & creases are more pronounced and occur when the skin's deeper layers are affected by significant loss of collagen and elastin. Deep wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines and deep furrows on the forehead, can create a more aged appearance. These often require a more targeted approach by adding volume to the area of concern.
Wrinkle-reducing products & treatments
Skincare products to reduce wrinkles
We truly believe in the benefits of medical-grade skincare products, with ingredients such as retinoids, hyaluronic acid, and peptides as they can help improve the appearance of wrinkles. Retinoids stimulate collagen production, while hyaluronic acid hydrates your skin. We are in love with our skincare range from Skin Better Science & Aspect Dr. Skin Better Science is only available in-store after, as you’ll need to consult with our clinicians before purchasing.
Chemical Peels to reduce wrinkles
Chemical peel treatments involve applying a solution to the skin to exfoliate and remove the outer layers. Chemical peels can help reduce surface wrinkles and improve skin texture by encouraging the growth of new, healthy skin. If you’re looking for more pronounced results that can also treat acne scarring, we recommend our TCA peel!
Microneedling
This minimally invasive procedure creates tiny micro-wounds on the surface of your skin, usually penetrating 0.3-1.5mm. Microneedling can help reduce surface wrinkles and stimulate collagen production, leading to a more even & glowy complexion. It’s important to understand that there is downtime associated with micro-needling, as we create 1000’s of micro-wounds on the surface of your skin. This can leave you ‘red-faced’ for several hours & into the next day. Over the following 3-4 days, you may see mild skin flaking (which is a good thing) this is your body doing what it does best, heal!
We provide you with 2 ‘SkinPen’ products to take home, which assist in protecting & hydrating your skin whilst the healing takes place!
Laser for wrinkles
Target deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. Our Clearlift is effective for reducing both surface and deep wrinkles, offering long-term improvements in your skin appearance. Clearlift laser is incredible, but it’s a longer game as you won’t see huge changes straight away, however, you have to trust the process! With 3-5 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart, you’ll notice profound changes in your skin tone, texture & elasticity! Clearlift has no downtime, which is why you’ll often hear Clearlift referred to as ‘The lunchtime face-lift’
Dermal Fillers
These are injectable treatments that fill in wrinkles and restore volume to the skin. They can be used to address deep wrinkles and hollow areas, providing immediate and noticeable results. We
